Saturday Night Live Will Ferrell

Will Ferrell hosted last night’s SNL with musical guest Usher and it was pretty great. This was on of the funniest of the season, give or take a few sketches. The episode started off with some great Obama and Biden stuff with Ferrell reprising his classic George W. Bush impersonation. The episode also featured many guest stars (Ana Gasteyer, Liam Neeson, Will Forte). One of the best parts was when they rolled out the 100th digital short. It featured all the faves from past shorts like Shy Ronnie, Natalie Portman, Michael Bolton, etc. So funny. Check it out.

Wrath of the Titans

Thoughts after watching Wrath of The Titans:

1. I really love Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes or I most definitely would not be watching this.
2. Man I want a flying horse. Pegasus would be wonderful transportation.
3. Oh gosh why are kids so ridiculous? They are always in the way.
4. What the hell is with Sam Worthington’s hair? He had the same hair in his last movie, Man on A Ledge and it wasn’t a good idea then either.
5. It actually wasn’t a terrible movie. It was better than the first one, Clash of the Titans. But I thought Clash was awful so there was only room for improvement.

Wrath of the Titans is in theaters this Friday.

The Grey (2012)

Liam Neeson continues his foray into becoming a full blown action star with the new movie, The Grey. This time he plays a sharpshooter whose job is to protect the oil-rig roughnecks from animal attacks as they work. On the way back home, the plane crashes and leaves 6 of the men alive and fighting for their lives. They are in the midst of the freezing Arctic weather and on top of that they are in wolf territory. The movie starts out as a survivalist movie but then kind of spirals out of control into a simple man vs. beast tale.

If you were looking for something more from this movie, you aren’t going to find it. I enjoyed myself while watching. It’s not a scary movie but the constant jolts of the camera, sudden movements and loud sounds made me jumpy. It’s a cheap trick but it worked to keep the action going. There is a scene at the end of the credits but you will live if you don’t see it. I like action star Liam Neeson, but I want the Kinsey Neeson back. Looking at his upcoming movies though, it looks like that isn’t going to be happening anytime soon.

The Grey is in theaters now.
