The Double

The Double is an espionage, spy thriller that starring Richard Gere and Topher Grace. The premise of the film is a prominent senator in D.C gets killed and it looks suspiciously like the work of a Russian assassin that Richard Gere hunted for most of his career and was presumed dead. The story is pretty standard. Old guy comes out of retirement and has to work with new young buck blah blah blah. It’s pretty predictable and the one thing that might have taken the audience at least maybe a quarter if the movie to predict is given away in the trailer. Richard Gere is the Cassius. Turns out he has been hunting himself this entire time. WTF. Seriously. I watched the movie wondering what else is there to this since everything was given away already. There is one twist at the end of the movie but when it happened all I thought was “oh ok.” Nothing else. I was really indifferent about the movie until the part where *****SPOILER ALERT*****

Richard Gere’s character dies. OMG I like Richard Gere but that scene was the worst acting ever. Worst death scene ever. I literally burst out laughing. I can’t even do it justice by describing it. I will find a clip on YouTube and post it. I would rate this movie a redbox/netflix rental.  Don’t bother wasting $11 to see it.  If you do want to see it, it hits theaters October 28th in limited release.

  1. Sooooo he pretended to be hunting himself, but was really a killer? Man Richard Gere, you are better than this. But everybody’s gotta eat. I hope this movie bought him a nice new car or something.
