Some TV News that you may have missed the last couple of weeks due to the holidays.

• A&E FINALLY DECIDED TO CANCEL THEIR KKK DOCUSERIES, ESCAPING THE KKK, BUT NOT FOR THE REASONS IT SHOULD HAVE. The network cited ethical concerns because they found the producers paid people who participated in the series  – INDIEWIRE
• THE CRUEL INTENTIONS REBOOT IS OFFICIALLY DEAD. The pilot was ordered by NBC and left in contention for potential pickup in May. Sony – the studio behind the series – continued to shop the series around.  I was able to watch the pilot in May and was not good but definitely enjoyable – VULTURE
• THE BROTHER OF THE SLAIN JONBENET RAMSEY SUES CBS AND THE PRODUCTION COMPANY CRITICAL CONTENT OVER DOCUSERIES THE CASE OF: JONBENET RAMSEY FOR $750M. The true crime docuseries reunited the original investigators of the unsolved murder to reexamine the case. Upon further rehashing the case, they hypothesized that Burke Ramsey accidentally killed his sister – PEOPLE

• SALEM HAS BEEN CANCELED BY WGN AMERICA after its current third season. The series was the first foray into scripted that the network made in May 2014. The series finale airs sometime in January 2017 – DEADLINE
• THE CW’s REIGN WILL END AFTER  FOUR SEASONS.  The fourth season premieres February 10 at 9pm ET/PT – DEADLINE
• SEASON 2 WILL BE THE END FOR NETFLIX’S MARCO POLO AND TV LAND’S IMPOSTER. Both series recently aired what would be their series finales. – TVLINE; VARIETY
• WEEKS AFTER ITS PREMIERE AMAZON CANCELS NEW SERIES GOOD GIRLS REVOLT. Much has been made of the cancellation as it’s one of the streaming service’s only female-centric series – THE ATLANTIC
• TBS HAS RENEWED ITS NEW SERIES PEOPLE OF EARTH AND SEARCH PARTY FOR SECOND SEASONS. Both series have been hits for the network that moved into original comedies in the last couple of years – VARIETY
• FULLER HOUSE WILL BE BACK FOR A 3RD SEASON. Netflix has renewed the Full House follow up shortly after releasing its second season – ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY

 

• WGN AMERICA UNVEILED THE FIRST TRAILER FOR SEASON 2 OF ITS HIT SERIES UNDERGROUND. The trailer heavily focuses on Harriet Tubman, who was since in the last minutes of the season one finale. – SHADOW AND ACT

• E4 RELEASED THE SEASON 2 TRAILER OF THE UK SERIES CHEWING GUM. The series which premiered on E4 fall 2015 and is currently streaming on Netflix returns  RETURNS JANUARY 12 – VULTURE

• THE CW RELEASED AN EXTENDED TRAILER OF THEIR NEW ARCHIE COMICS BASED SERIES RIVERDALE. I didn’t like the pilot when I saw it this past May but I’ll give it another go. The series PREMIERES JANUARY 26 – LOS ANGELES TIMES  

• BBC AMERICA REVEALS A NEW TEASER FOR THE 10TH SEASON OF DOCTOR WHO. The new season features a new companion for the Doctor played by UK actress Pearl Mackie. Season 10 premieres sometime in the Spring of 2017 – DEADLINE  

• CBS FINALLY RELEASED THE FIRST TRAILER TO THEIR GOOD WIFE SPINOFF THE GOOD FIGHT. The series will premiere February 19 on CBS before moving to their streaming network CBS All Access – ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY

• A NEW TRAILER FOR SEASON 4 OF BET’S BEING MARY JANE AS BEEN RELEASED.  In the upcoming season, Mary Jane moves to New York City for a fresh start with a new job. The series RETURNS JANUARY 10 – SHADOW AND ACT
