Fall is here!!! Leaves are falling, the weather is cooler, the boots and jackets have started to come out.Ok it’s been here for a while now but I’ve been so obsessed with tv lately that I forgot all about the movies that are coming this fall that I want to see.
Martha Marcy May Marlene
Elizabeth Olsen stars as Martha, a young lady that escapes from an abusive cult led by a charismatic leader Patrick (John Hawkes;Winter’s Bone, Contagion). After being missing for sometime, she returns home and tries to assimilate back into her family. She begins to have a difficult time when she becomes haunted by the memories of her time with the cult and becomes increasingly paranoid with the belief that the cult is watching her every move. This movie looks so good. From the trailer alone it looks like the cast is great, the story is intriguing and its going to definitely be an Oscar contender.

Rum Diary
This movie stars Johnny Depp, Aaron Eckhart, Amber Heard, and Giovanni Ribisi in a story about a journalist who gets tires of New York and moves to Puerto Rico to write for a paper there. While there he gets into the rum-soaked spirit of the island and becomes obsessed with a woman who is attached to a shady businessman. I’ll see anything with Johnny Depp in it so I’ll most definitely be seeing this. It looks pretty funny and it has a great cast.

My Week With Marilyn
The movie is set in the summer of 1956, where Marilyn Monroe (Michelle Williams;Blue Valentine, Shutter Island) is working in London on the set of her movie The Prince and the Showgirl. The film chronicles her time spent there as Monroe escapes from Hollywood and all the pressures. I was a little skeptical about Michelle Williams playing Marilyn Monroe. She just didn’t seem to have the sex appeal that it took to play the role (kind of like Anne Hathaway playing Catwoman in the upcoming Batman movie). But based on the trailer I think its gonna be great. Michelle Williams has come a long way since her Dawson’s Creek days. She has been doing great work. Poor Kathy Holmes got stuck with Tom Cruise and would probably kill for this career. Poor thing.

A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas
This is the 3rd movie in the Harold and Kumar series. It stars Kal Penn and John Cho. Don’t judge me but I love this series. Its so ridiculously hilarious and so over the top. The 3rd movie picks up six years from the last movie. The two best friends have grown apart and are living separate lives and then something happens that brings them together for another adventure during Christmas in New York City. It doesn’t even matter why they are coming together because I like John Cho and Kal Penn. I was sad when Cho’s show, Flash Forward got cancelled last as well as Penn getting killed off House last year. Hopefully they something new because while I like this series they can’t do this forever.

Happy Feet 2
I really liked the first Happy Feet and I usually hate cutesy animated movies. But sometimes even this cold heart of mine can get thawed and I appreciate the cutesy little things. The second movie is Mumble’s son Erik, who has some kind of ailment like his dad who couldn’t sing the heartsong in the first movie. They also have a problem that is trying to destroy their world and Mumbles again must bring all the penguins together to stop them.

The Iron Lady
Meryl Streep. Enough said. That’s it. LOVE HER. This movie is the story of the former Prime Minister of the UK, Margaret Thatcher and how she rose to power. The trailer really doesn’t give much of the movie but it doesn’t matter. Meryl can read the phone book and she’s get nominated for an Oscar. This movie is clearly Oscar bait. It’s got accents, its based on history, its an indie and it has big past nominees. It’ll probably be this year’s the King’s Speech.

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol
This is an awful title for this movie. That being said I actually like this series. I really liked the last movie. It was done by J.J Abrams who is one of my favs so and he is doing this one as well so I’m hoping this one will be a good one as well. The premise for this one is the undercover group led by Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) is shut down because they have been framed in the bombing of a famous Russian landmark. They have to go out to investigate and clear their name with many people after them. Paula Patton, Jeremy Renner and Ving Rhames also star in this movie. It’ll be a nice action, popcorn flick for the Christmas holidays.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
Robert Downey,Jr and Jude Law reprise their roles in this sequel to the wonderful Sherlock Holmes. This one is about Holmes and Watson investigating the death of the Crown Prince of Austria. It’s ruled a suicide but Holmes beelieves that he has been murdered and thus begins his investigation to find out what happened and what game the murderer is playing at. This time the leading lady is played by Noomi Rapace (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo). I love Downey from all the stuff he did in the 80’s to his cracked out days on Ally McBeal to his comeback with Iron Man. He’s just a very versitile actor and he’s really good. I’ll definitely be watching this.

The Darkest Hour
This movie stars Emile Hershe (Into the Wild, Milk) and his group of young pretty friends who live in Russia and are having the time of their lives until aliens come down and attack. I had never heard of this movie but the trailer looks great. I mean it looks exactly like Cloverfield but hopefully its better than that one.

I’m with you for Iron Lady and My Week With Marilyn. At this point I’d watch Meryl Streep read a phone book, and I’m pretty curious about Michelle Williams’s performance. The others, meh. Martha Marcy May Marlene looks awesome but I’m not gonna pay to be depressed by a movie about cults/brainwashing.
Also, is it just me or does Elizabeth Olsen somewhat resemble Maggie Gyllenhaal?
Hahahahah omg she really does, Doesn’t she. You would notice that. As for the Martha movie you know I got free screening passes so I’m going that way.And I have some for you too I’ll send them.
BOOOO ON ALL THE MOVIES EXCEPT MERYL STREEPS AND THE OLSEN KID….IM A BIT QUERY OF THE HOLMES SEQUEL.AND HAROLD AND KUMAR SHOULD HAVE STOPPED AT WHITE CASTLE.U KNOW HOW I FEEL ABOUT MICHELLE WILLIAMS IDK HOW SHE GOT AN OSCAR NOD 4 BLUE VALENTINE LOL
Hahah TaCho maybe they should have stopped at the last one but yeah I want to see this one just because its Harold an Kumar. I’m sure I’ll be entertained. Yes I definitely know how you feel about Michelle but I think she’s a good actress lol. I would tell u to come to the Olsen kid’s movie but you’ll be occupied lol.
Oooh…I want to see the Marilyn Monroe one (because I’m intrigued by her, and the actress because she was on Dawson’s Creek!). Good point about poor Katie Holmes. And I also want to see the Marcy Marline one. Sounds creepy, but eerily good.
