What To Watch: September 13
Fall premieres continue tonight. Got some Glee kids, some housewives and Brian Williams? Here are the premieres for Thursday, September 13.
9/8c – FOX – Glee- Season 4 Premiere. In this new season, the members of New Directions compete among themselves to see who will become the next star of the glee club. During open auditions, a fresh crop of students are introduced (Yeah cause that’s what this show needs– more new characters) Meanwhile, Rachel (Lea Michele) has a rocky start in New York and struggles to please her demanding dance teacher, guest star Kate Hudson (How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, Almost Famous). She also meets Brody, a handsome upperclassman who will certainly get in the mix of the Rachel/Finn tale. This show is pretty dead to me and there is nothing that can save it. It got so ridiculous, I quit. Won’t be back. I hope it gets back on track for anyone that is still a fan but I doubt it. You should just go back and watch the perfection that is season 1 and just stick to that.
9/8c – BRAVO – The Real Housewives of Miami – Season 2 Premiere. Returning Housewives Lea Black, Adriana de Moura and Marysol Patton are joined this season by socialite Lisa Hochstein, supermodel Joanna Krupa, successful lawyer and chef Ana Quincoces and celebrity dentist Karent Sierra. Also returning in a recurring role is Alexia Echevarria, who made her son Frankie’s rehabilitation from a bad automobile accident earlier this year her main priority. I’m actually surprised this one is back. I mean it has been almost 2 years since it was on and the show just wasn’t up to par with the crazy and drama factor like the other Housewives franchises. They clearly really wanted to change that and decided to bring 4 new women in. 7 women is entirely too much. I mean you have an hour every week; how are you supposed to get to know the ladies? I couldn’t care less about who they are as long as they bring the drama. I watch every other Housewives city (don’t judge me), so I’ll be back again for this one.
10/9c – NBC – Rock Center With Brian Williams – Season 2 premiere. The news magazine returns for season 2 and on tonight’s premiere Nancy Snyderman examines Internet dependency and studies that equate it with drug or alcohol addiction. Also: a report on media outlets that scrutinize statements by public officials; an interview with pop sensation Justin Bieber; and a look at extravagant family reunions. This show is a good but it does absolutely nothing to dig NBC out of the hole that they are in.
What To Watch: September 12
Two new shows premiere tonight. NBC continues it’s fall roll out with another comedy, this time by Late Night’s Jimmy Fallon, called Guys with Kids. While over on FOX, they start their two-night premiere of The X-Factor.
8/7c – FOX – The X-Factor – Season 2 Premiere. Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid are joined by new judges, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato as they travel the nation searching for undiscovered talent 12 years old or over – both solo artists and vocal groups – who are worthy of the largest prize in television history: a $5 million recording contract with Syco/Sony Music. Watched about 2 episodes of this last season and didn’t like it at all but that might have been because I can’t stand Nicole Scherzinger and Steve Jones as the host was not good. But I shall tune in tonight because I’m curious to see how crazy Britney gets.
10/9c – NBC – Guys With Kids – Series Premiere. The show is about three 30-something dads trying to hold on to their youth, while holding their new babies’ hands. The show stars Chris (Jesse Bradford, The West Wing), Nick (Zach Cregger, Friends with Benefits) and Gary (Anthony Anderson, Law & Order) have each other to help navigate their survival as new dads, while still trying desperately to stay dudes. Balancing work or staying at home, painfully married or happily divorced, they know that taking care of the little ones while maintaining a social life is a daily challenge. The show also stars Jamie Lynn Sigler (The Sopranos) and Tempestt Bledsoe (The Cosby Show). I’m not expecting much from this show. It’s like they took the part with the men from the movie What To Expect When You Are Expecting and decided to make show. Why Jimmy Fallon would do this, I don’t know. But we’ll see. I’ll be watching of course just out of curiosity but it’ll more than likely get cut because much better shows are coming soon.
Network Upfronts
The upfronts are this week and this when networks bust out their fall schedules to advertisers as a way for them to buy commercial space “upfront” before the season actually begins. As they release their schedules, I will post on each network and what stayed and what was cancelled as well as have a schedule for when everything is going to air so you can start preparing for Fall 2012 tv.
