Emmy Awards Fashion

The Emmy Awards were held last night and here are some of my best and worst dressed. I didn’t feel that there were many amazing dresses. Most of them were kind of mid line which made it difficult to pick the best and worst.

Best Dressed

Lucy Liu (Elementary)

Atelier Versace (Getty Images)

I really liked this dress. Yes it kind of looked like chain mail but I really like the shape and color and the entire ensemble. She’s just so beautiful.

Tina Fey (30 Rock)

Vivienne Westwood (Getty Images)

Tina looked really good. So glad that she chose a different color than her usual black. Hair and makeup are all great and I like that she didn’t have a necklace because the neckline of the dress is enough.

Emily VanCamp (Revenge, Brothers and Sisters)

J. Mendel (FilmMagic)

Love this. Good color. Very understated but upon closer inspection has some great detail.

Edie Falco (Nurse Jackie, The Sopranos)

Stella McCarthy (Getty Images)

I feel like everyone has rocked this Stella McCarthy dress (Salma Hayek, Kate Winslet) but that is because it looks so damn good on everyone. I have never seen Edie Falco look so good. Her body is amazing and the dress, accessories, hair, everything together are so wonderful.

Heidi Klum (Project Runway)

Alexandre Vauthier (Getty Images)

Best dressed for me. OMG Heidi looked so damn good. This is what happens in Hollywood after you have a big breakup; you go on the breakup/divorce diet and then debut at an awards function. I love the color, hair, jewelry, the high slits, everything. The dress photographs well and it looked great on television.

Worst Dressed

Connie Britton (Nashville, Friday Night Lights)

Andrew GN (Getty Images)

I love Connie Britton. You know I love her but this is a mess. The dress is just so unflattering and the hair is such a mess. I really wanted to like it but it just – no.

Zosia Mamet (Girls)

Bihbu Mahopatra (Getty Images)

Nothing much to say about this dress. It speaks for itself. It’s awful. NEXT.

Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men)

Dolce & Gabbana (Getty Images)

I love a good print but this is not good. The fit is great on her and the hair and makeup are good but the dress is a no.

Ashley Judd (Missing)

Carolina Herrera (Getty Images)

Ashley Judd usually looks great but this is a hot mess from top to bottom. The hair is a nightmare. I just don’t get this look at all.

Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife)

Giambattista Valli (Getty Images)

Another one of my favorite people and they look awful.  This looks like  some curtains you would find at somebody’s grandmother’s house or an old folks home. The dress looks as if they thought how can I put together the look of curtains with some glitter finger paint.

There is one dress I’m on the fence about. I don’t know if I like it or not. I think I like it but I just don’t know. See for yourself. Ginnifer Goodwin (Once Upon A Time) in Monique Lhuillier.

I don’t know. I have looked at this dress from every angle and I just don’t know. So tell me Do You Love It or Hate It?

  1. I like Ginnifer Goodwin’s dress, but it is a bit over the top for my taste. I was on the fence about the best dressed category because even though I ultimately selected Heidi as my #1, Emily VanCamp came in a close second and this is why: Heidi’s look is so glam and “matchy” (which I absolutely love! Sidenote: Some say matchy is out, but it will NEVER be completely out of fashion), but if I were thinking about what I would wear to this kind of function (like I’d EVER get to go to the Emmy’s LOL), I’d totally wear VanCamp’s dress: gray and understated, yet there’s something quietly graceful and classy about it.
