Thanksgiving Marathons To Feast On

Thanksgiving. The time for family, food and endless amounts of television. I love Thanksgiving because as I come down from my food coma, I can unwind on the couch and watch any one of the zillion marathons that run that weekend. Here are some that might whet your appetite.

Awkward – MTV – Friday 9am – 10pm. MTV is going to run both seasons of this hilarious show.

James Bond Movie Marathon – Syfy – Midnight Thursday – 5:30am Saturday. They do this marathon every year and I always catch at least 3 Bond movies during this time. Love them.

Beverly Hills 90210 – SoapNet – Friday 8pm – 1am. This 5 hour marathon is going to focus on the roller coaster  that was  Kelly and Dylan’s relationship, starting with the episode where Kelly and Dylan hooked up while Brenda was away in Paris.

Friday Night Lights – ESPN Classic – Friday 1 – 11pm. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! Anyone who reads even a bit of this blog knows I STAN HARD for this show. ESPN is airing Season 5, the last season, of the show. Clear Eyes. Full Hearts. Can’t Loose.

Castle – TNT – Thursday 10am – 11pm. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! TNT just started airing Castle in syndication and they are doing a nice marathon of season 2. This is a great opportunity to check out some of the early Caskett (Castle & Beckett) tension and what makes this show so much fun to watch.

Breaking Amish – TLC – Thursday 11am-9pm. Never watched this show but I heard it’s good so marathon here I come.

General Hospital – SoapNet – Thursday 7pm-12am. SoapNet is calling their 5 hour marathon “Quartermania.” They will be airing Thanksgiving episodes that center on those crazy Quartermaines. This will be a nice way to look back at the better years of the show.

Oprah’s Next Chapter – OWN – Sunday 2-10pm. Eight episodes of Next Chapter featuring Stephen Colbert (The Colbert Report), Kelsey Grammer (Boss), Usher, Fergie, Lady Gaga and Jennifer Hudson before the new episode with Justin Bieber at 9pm/8c.

The First 48 – A&E – Thursday 3pm – Friday 4am. If you really want to waste the day away put on an episode of this gem and you will never leave the couch. I always have to cautious with this show because before I know it I’ve been sucked in.

Law & Order: SVU – USA – Saturday 12pm – 2am. No weekend is complete without an SVU marathon.  They usually run this for a couple of hours on Sundays but this weekend they start a day early. Be sure to catch-all the old Benson and Stabler episodes.

Fringe – Science – Friday 9:30am – Saturday 3am; Saturday 10am – Sunday 3am. With this show ending its run on FOX this January, relive all the memorable moments from the beginning of the series. I am going to be all over this one.

What To Watch: September 26

What’s a great gift for my birthday today? More and more premieres. Woooo. My dvr is cursing at me right now from all the things its taping.

8/7c – ABC – The Middle – Season 4 Premiere. Frankie’s plans to recreate the magic of her own childhood summers get spoiled when Mike lets it slip that Axl is his favorite Heck child, and Frankie tries to coax the kids into telling them who their favorite parent is. Meanwhile, when Frankie and Mike discover that Axl failed English during the past school year, they force him to make it up in summer school, otherwise he could jeopardize any chance of getting a college sports scholarship after graduation; Brick takes up growing a tomato for his summer project; and Sue tries to bond with a reluctant Mike and to get him involved in different activities with her — which she plans to document in a giant scrapbook.

9/8c – CBS – Criminal Minds – Season 8 Premiere. When a Texas prisoner escapes during a transfer, he leaves behind victims with his unique trademark, sewing their mouths shut, a signature the BAU remembers as unique to the UnSub “The Silencer.” While they investigate who he was and who he’s become, the BAU also gets to know the newest member of the team.

9/8c – NBC – Law & Order: SVU – Season 14 Premiere. The squad is reeling from the fallout after Cragen gets arrested for the murder of an escort. Tensions run high at the precinct as the detectives contend with the DA’s investigation of Cragen, as well as the arrival of a tough new captain. 9/8c – ABC – Modern Family – Season 4 Premiere. Jay’s birthday is upon us again and, as before, he makes it well-known that he wishes to keep it as low-key as possible, with no grand gestures or surprises. Meanwhile, Dylan moves into the Dunphy household temporarily, and Mitch and Cam decide to look into adopting a cat as they continue to cope with their failed attempt to adopt another child.

The Weavers soon learn that the entire community is comprised of aliens from Zabvron, where the men bear children and everyone cries green goo from their ears. They are awaiting instructions from home, and the Weavers are the first humans they’ve had the opportunity to know. The two worlds collide as everyone discovers they can “totally relate” and learn a lot from each other.
