Thanksgiving Marathons To Feast On

Thanksgiving. The time for family, food and endless amounts of television. I love Thanksgiving because as I come down from my food coma, I can unwind on the couch and watch any one of the zillion marathons that run that weekend. Here are some that might whet your appetite.

Awkward – MTV – Friday 9am – 10pm. MTV is going to run both seasons of this hilarious show.

James Bond Movie Marathon – Syfy – Midnight Thursday – 5:30am Saturday. They do this marathon every year and I always catch at least 3 Bond movies during this time. Love them.

Beverly Hills 90210 – SoapNet – Friday 8pm – 1am. This 5 hour marathon is going to focus on the roller coaster  that was  Kelly and Dylan’s relationship, starting with the episode where Kelly and Dylan hooked up while Brenda was away in Paris.

Friday Night Lights – ESPN Classic – Friday 1 – 11pm. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! Anyone who reads even a bit of this blog knows I STAN HARD for this show. ESPN is airing Season 5, the last season, of the show. Clear Eyes. Full Hearts. Can’t Loose.

Castle – TNT – Thursday 10am – 11pm. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! TNT just started airing Castle in syndication and they are doing a nice marathon of season 2. This is a great opportunity to check out some of the early Caskett (Castle & Beckett) tension and what makes this show so much fun to watch.

Breaking Amish – TLC – Thursday 11am-9pm. Never watched this show but I heard it’s good so marathon here I come.

General Hospital – SoapNet – Thursday 7pm-12am. SoapNet is calling their 5 hour marathon “Quartermania.” They will be airing Thanksgiving episodes that center on those crazy Quartermaines. This will be a nice way to look back at the better years of the show.

Oprah’s Next Chapter – OWN – Sunday 2-10pm. Eight episodes of Next Chapter featuring Stephen Colbert (The Colbert Report), Kelsey Grammer (Boss), Usher, Fergie, Lady Gaga and Jennifer Hudson before the new episode with Justin Bieber at 9pm/8c.

The First 48 – A&E – Thursday 3pm – Friday 4am. If you really want to waste the day away put on an episode of this gem and you will never leave the couch. I always have to cautious with this show because before I know it I’ve been sucked in.

Law & Order: SVU – USA – Saturday 12pm – 2am. No weekend is complete without an SVU marathon.  They usually run this for a couple of hours on Sundays but this weekend they start a day early. Be sure to catch-all the old Benson and Stabler episodes.

Fringe – Science – Friday 9:30am – Saturday 3am; Saturday 10am – Sunday 3am. With this show ending its run on FOX this January, relive all the memorable moments from the beginning of the series. I am going to be all over this one.

Fall TV Week 3 **Spoiler Alert**

Partners – Right off the bat it looks just like Will & Grace, which I liked. Glad Brandon Routh has found some steady employment. I didn’t love the show but I liked it. It was consistent and has some laughs. I like Sophia Bush’s character. I feel like she is still playing Brooke from One Tree Hill though. Michael Urie is adorable. It looks like he is playing a less bitchy version of his character on Ugly Betty. We’ll see how the next episode goes.

The Mindy Project – Liked it.  Its funny and quirky (not Zooey Deschanel annoying quirky. I love New Girl but sometimes its just too much). The show wasn’t a slam dunk but it has great potential. Mindy Kaling is a great writer so I only see the show getting better. I thought the supporting characters were pretty good as well. This gets a season pass because I really like Kaling.

Fall TV: Top New and Returning Shows

If you have followed this blog for any amount of time, you know I love television. You also know I LOVE FALL TELEVISION. The air begins to cool down, Starbucks brings back their pumpkin spiced flavor and all of my favorites and potential favorites come back from their summer hiatus. It’s the most magical time ever.

So here I’m going to wax poetic on what returning shows I am looking forward to as well as what new ones I hope are as good as their trailers seem.

Returning Shows

Castle

Season 5 is going to be amazing. Season 4 ended with the writers giving the fans what they have wanted for 4 long seasons and they definitely did not disappoint. Season 5 will start with the morning after of Castle and Beckett getting together as well as what happens with Esposito and Beckett after they quit the force. Hopefully we will get some mending of Ryan and Esposito’s friendship. Can’t wait for this one. The new season starts Monday, September 24 @10/9c on ABC.

FALL TV (Sorry DVR, Break Time Over)

Every year when September rolls around I always get excited.  Not just because it’s my birthday month but because fall tv returns. I LOVE FALL TELEVISION.  The networks roll out all their new shows that got picked up and old favorites return.  This fall there are over 127 new and returning shows starting Sept 13th from cable and the big 5 networks.    I will be watching all of the new ones for at least 3 or 4 episodes before I decide if they are any good and cut them off. How I’m going to manage that, I don’t know. Entertainment Weekly has a nice article with tips on  how to navigate the fall tv season so it’s gonna be all good.

This season there are many shows that I’m looking forward to, both new and returning, but I have managed to narrow down the list to 10 (5 returning and 5 new) that I think everyone should watch.
