CBS Fall 2014 New Schedule & Shows

Even though their number one spot got taken this year by NBC, CBS can still boast going into their upfront presentation that they are the most watched network in total viewers. They do need to be worried however, as their viewership in the 18-49 advertiser demo has dropped almost 15% in the last year. Their biggest problems are Mondays at 8:30 pm and Fridays at 8 pm. These two time slots have been where shows go to die on the channel.  It seems they have come up with a solution for both of these problems as they have cut down their two hour Monday comedy block to one hour, putting a new drama at 9 pm. They have also decided to keep reality in the Friday 8 pm time slot instead of trying another new drama. Other than that there really isn’t much they are changing. I mean if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. See all the changes in their new Fall 2014 schedule.  Continue reading CBS Fall 2014 New Schedule & Shows

ABC Fall 2014 New Schedule & Shows

ABC went into its upfront presentation today in the same place it has been for the last couple of years, in fourth place. While their percentage of viewer decline has been way less than that of the other networks, they still can’t catch a break as all their new dramas and comedies have failed terribly and not even Shonda Rhimes can save them. Their biggest problems are Tuesdays, Thursdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 11 pm and it doesn’t really seem like they tried to change much on the schedule. The biggest change occurs on Tuesday and Thursday. They moved their comedy block an hour earlier on Tuesdays to start the night off. That’s good as it won’t have to go up against FOX’s comedy hour at 9 pm. They moved The Goldbergs to the time slot it should have been in from the beginning, after The Middle. Maybe if they had done that last fall, along with giving Trophy Wife the post Modern Family slot, that show wouldn’t have sunk the way it did. Yes, I’m a little bitter. See here and here. They have also done what I figured they were going to on Thursdays and just made it a Shonda Rhimes night of television. Moving Grey’s Anatomy to 8 pm is definitely going to be a huge challenge as it will be going up against the highest rated comedy on television, The Big Bang Theory. That show could put a huge dent into the ratings of ABC’s highest rated drama. They also moved Scandal to the 9 pm hour which I think would have worked except NBC will be moving The Blacklist to that time slot making it a very competitive hour. For Sunday they finally did what they should have done two years ago, which was move Revenge back to it’s 10 pm time slot. Check out all of these changes in the new Fall 2014 schedule. FOX Fall 2014 New Schedule & Shows

Fox upfronts

FOX upfronts are the way and they have released their Fall 2014 schedule. Some changes were made but not many. The biggest change FOX made to its schedule was Animation Domination Sunday is done. The animated block that consisted of The Simpsons, Family Guy and 2 other animated shows has been a staple on FOX’s schedule for almost 10 years. While they will still have an animated hour of programming on Sundays, they will now have an hour of comedy. Speaking of comedy, they have also wisely dismantled their two-hour Tuesday comedy block that like NBC’s Thursday night has seen better days.

The new schedule only has the shows coming this fall. FOX has saved most of their shows for mid-season.

NBC Fall 2014 New Schedule & Shows

NBC Upfronts happened today and they released their schedule for fall 2014 and it looks like they are making some changes that have been a long time coming. While NBC went into the upfronts as number 1 thanks to The Voice, NFL, The Sochi Winter Games and The Blacklist, they still have a problem being that they have one of the highest cancellation counts of premiere shows among the broadcast networks. They also needed to work on their entire Thursday night which consisted of a 2 hour block of comedies and a 10 pm drama – none of which have worked since the end of Friends.

The new schedule has been released today and it looks like they are looking to finally be competitive on Thursday nights by having only an hour block of comedy and moving their hit drama, The Blacklist, to Thursdays after the Superbowl to hopefully help as a nice lead-in for a new drama. Other than that shakeup, it seems everything is pretty much the same. Here is the new schedule for Fall 2014.

Upfronts 2014

My second favorite time of the year is here: UPFRONTS WEEK!!! This is the time when all the networks announce which pilots they picked up and reveal their programming strategies for the year to advertisers. Advertisers then buy up ad space for the year and this is how the broadcast and cable networks pay their bills.

Most of the networks announced a lot of their pickups and cancellations just before the weekend with a couple of them still pending. The full schedules will be revealed this week with NBC going first today, followed by FOX, ABC, CBS and The CW. There are couple cable network upfronts interspersed throughout the week. Lookout for some upfront post from me through out the week with trailers of all the new shows coming this September.

ABC’s Trophy Wife Cancelled

ABC has cancelled Trophy Wife along with the comedies SuburgatoryMixology and The Neighbors. If you read my post last fall, Why Aren’t You Watching Trophy Wife?, who know how sad I am about this. This show was really funny. The best part was the character of Burt played by the Albert Tsai. He was so wonderful. In scenes with bigger stars he was a scene stealer on many occasions.

It’s definitely not a surprise that it got canceled. After series low 0.7 rating it got this past Tuesday, I knew it was done. It never got its fair shake at all. It was placed on Tuesday night in the 9 pm hour with The Goldbergs and no lead in. How did ABC expect it to survive? I will continue to carry on that if they had put The Goldbergs and Trophy Wife on Wednesday night with The Middle and Modern Family, those shows would have done way better in the ratings than they did.

Oh well, such are the ways of network television. I’ll just look forward to the rest of the unaired Trophy Wife episodes and to the future projects of all the cast members of this lovely show.

Watch: ‘True Blood’ Final Season Trailer Warns ‘There’s No One Left’

AHHHH Final season. Even though this show went off the rails several seasons ago, I’m still super sad that this is the final season of this show.

Oscars 2014

iwatch2much.com12YearsASlaveBestPicture

The 85th annual Academy Awards have come to past and Ellen Degeneres, on her 2nd go as host did a good job in moving the long ceremony (clocking in at a final run time of 3 1/2 hours) along. The Academy spread the love all around everyone getting a little piece of the pie. Gravity won 7 awards including Best Director for Alfonso Cuaron. 12 Years A Slave received 3 awards including the biggest prize of the night, Best Picture. There were so many other great moments at the awards from Lupita Nyong’o winning and giving that amazing acceptance speech to the selfie that broke Twitter and John Travolta having a stroke and completely butchering Idina Menzel’s name. You can find all of those moments on Indiewire and TVline. See the full list of winners below. Continue reading Oscars 2014

2014 Oscar Fashions

iwatch2much.comdresses

The 2014 Oscars had some wonderful fashion moments from Lupita Nyong’o to Charlize Theron. They also had a couple of “what the hell were they thinking?” moments. Here are my best and worst dressed of last night’s Academy Awards.

BEST DRESSED

AMY ADAMS

Simple and just beautiful.

SANDRA BULLOCK

US-OSCARS-ARRIVALS

She’s wearing the same blue as Amy Adams but the dresses are completely different as well as the styling. This is Sandra Bullock’s best awards season look. She had been very hit or miss so I’m glad that she knocked it for the biggest of the award shows.

LUPITA NYONG’O

She looked so good last night. I wasn’t a fan of the headband but that was about it.  I had to give you three views of the dress.  I love blue so it’s not a shocker that my favorite dresses last night were some variation of my favorite color.  Last night was her night and she delivered in every way possible beginning with this red carpet look.

CHARLIZE THERON

iwatch2much.comCharlizeTheronShe can do no wrong in my book. She consistently knocks it out of the park except for that time where she had a beautiful metallic gold dress but got a really bad spray tan at the 2004 Oscars where she won for her role in Monster. Black is also one of my favorite colors.
