What To Watch: October 25

10/9c – Lifetime – Project Runway:All Stars. Season 2 Premiere. I get why the first Project Runway: All Stars happened. It was so they could remedy the mess they made in giving Gretchen the win over Mondo in Season 8. Mondo won that season. Now they have a season 2. I don’t know why. There isn’t anyone that I can think of that was wronged in any other season who would need to come back with something to prove. At this point Project Runway is looking a little like another fashion show, America’s Next Top Model, that has overstayed its welcome. This season has Wendy Pepper (Season 1), Andrae Gonzalo (Season 2), Kayne Gillaspie (Season 3), Uli Herzner (Season 3), Suede Baum (Season 5), Althea Harper (Season 6), Emilio Sosa (Season 7), Peach Carr (Season 8), Ivy Higa (Season 8), Casanova (Season 8), Anthony Ryan Auld (Season 9), Laura Kathleen Planck (Season 9), Joshua McKinley (Season 9) returning to the competition.

What To Watch: October 23

Tonight brings about the premieres of two of my favorite comedies on television: Happy Endings and Don’t Trust The B* In Apartment 23.

9/8c – ABC – Happy Endings. Season 3 Premiere. Dave and Alex start dating again, telling everyone they’re keeping it “cazsh.” When an unfortunate accident lands Penny in a full body cast, Max nurses her back to health. But after he meets her hot physical therapist, he starts “misery-ing” her so her fast recovery won’t put the brakes on his new crush; and Brad has a secret about his new unemployed status that he’s trying to keep from Jane. Jessica Shaw from Entertainment Weekly put it best when she said, “There are two types of people in this world: (a) those who have seen HAPPY ENDINGS and love it and (b) those who have never heard of HAPPY ENDINGS. Because to watch this show and dislike it is unfathomable. It’d be like hating puppies — sexy, sardonic, filthy-mouthed puppies.” Well said Jessica, well said. It’s the truth. No one I have turned on this show has ever regretted it. Season 1 was great, season 2 was even better and I’ll bet this season will be just as good and hopefully better.

9:30/8:30c – ABC – Don’t Trust The B* In Apartment 23. Season 2 Premiere. James goes against Chloe’s advice, succumbing to June’s urging and attempting the unimaginable – dare we dream? — a Dawson’s Creek reunion! Along the way, he makes some shocking discoveries, veers slightly off course and encounters some stars of television past. I didn’t think this show was that great in the beginning, but it got pretty hilarious as the season went on. It’s not as good as Happy Endings but it’s its own show and the cast is very funny.

What To Watch: October 22

9/8c – NBC/ABC/CBS – Presidential Debate – 3rd and finale debate before the election. President Barack Obama and GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney will meet for their third and final debate hosted by Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla., and will be moderated by CBS News’ Bob Schieffer. The format for the debate will be identical to the first presidential debate and will focus on foreign policy.

9/8c – LOGO – RuPaul’s Drag Race – All Star Edition. Join RuPaul as he welcomes back the most celebrated queens of the past for the wildest, most jaw-dropping, and outrageous Drag Race yet. They are the best-of-the-best, the top queens from seasons 1-4, and they’re ready to lip-synch for their lives to determine which All-Star will walk away with $100K and a spot in the “Drag Race Hall of Fame.”

What To Watch: October 17

9:30/8:30c – ABC – Suburgatory – Season 2 Premiere. When Tessa returns to Chatswin after spending the summer in NYC with her grandmother, her burgeoning interest in her mom leaves George feeling threatened. In an effort to feel more connected to her mom’s musical side, Tessa takes up the guitar and signs up to sing in the Fall Follies. Meanwhile, Noah decides he wants Carmen to come back and work for him, and he gets into an all out competition with Dallas over her.

10/9c – FX – American Horror Story – Season 2 Premiere. Welcome to Briarcliff Manor, a notorious insane asylum home to the deranged serial killer, Bloody Face. Lurking in the shadows of this “sanctuary of healing” are terrifying evils that blur the boundaries between reality and insanity.

Fall TV Week 4 & 5

Raising Hope – This show continues to be so hilarious. I feel like it has gotten better and better as the seasons have gone by. Martha Plimpton and Cloris Leachman continue to deliver the funniest lines.

Hart of Dixie – I can’t even lie. I love this show. It’s so cliché and really not that good but it just make me nostalgic for the WB from the 90’s when Dawson’s Creek, Felicity, 7th Heaven, etc were still on. The love triangle with George and Wade is getting tired. I like her with Wade. She’s so blah with George but Wade keeps her on her toes. This whole Lavon and his ex girlfriend running against each other for mayor is so stupid. I guess they needed another story for Lavon since he has nothing going on with his character except for being the wise friend to Zoe. I will keep watching though.

90210 – Cliche, predictable, overly dramatic; these are all things that describe this show, yet I still love watching it. It’s one of my guilty pleasures. My favorite thing is to do is to yell at the screen at all the plot holes and predict what is going to happen in the episode. This season Dixon is in a wheel chair; Silver is feeling sorry for herself because all her boys left her; Annie has nothing to do but fawn over Dixon; Naomi and Max are married and his friend hates her; Liam is an idiot and being blackmailed by that psycho heffa Vanessa; Navid is trying and failing at being a bad boy; and Adrianna slept with someone else has feelings for him but is staying with Dixon out of pity because he was in an accident. The season just started and it’s already pretty ridiculous. I will stick it out as I have for 4 other seasons.

Arrow – This show is like Batman and Revenge but together. This guy has a list and he’s checking it twice. He also has a lair which he was all set up with computers and other equipment out of nowhere. I know we are supposed to suspend some belief in watching these shows but that part was just a mess. Besides these little annoyances, I liked the show. I feel like I already know where the show is going to go but I like the lead and the different people involved in the story. Not too bad of a pilot. I will keep watching this one and see if it gets better.

Beauty & The Beast – I don’t know about this show. It’s pretty bad; the kind of bad that still makes you watch, like a train wreck. I don’t know why they are calling this show Beauty and The Beast because the beast is not beastly at all. He’s more like the Hulk who only turns beastly when he gets angry. It’s so over dramatic but not in the fun way 90210 is. I think I was laughing for more than half of the premiere episode. Just skip this one unless you are a fan of terrible shows then please by all means continue to watch.

Nashville – It’s fantastic. It’s soapy but smart and beautifully written with amazing acting. I am slightly biased because I LOVE CONNIE BRITTON but even if I didn’t, this is still a great show. Hayden Panettiere is great playing a slutty Taylor Swift-esqe bad girl. Loved her for a long time so I’m very happy that she is back on television. After the premiere, I just see so many places that the show can go. If you were turned off by the Nashville aspect of the show, don’t worry about that there is plenty more there to watch. Give the show a try — unless you hate good  tv.

Chicago Fire – I thought this show was pretty good. I felt like I was watching Law & Order when I watched. Turns out it is produced by Dick Wolf, the producer of the Law & Order franchise. It has a good cast. Taylor Kinney who was Mason, Tyler’s uncle, on The Vampire Diaries all kinds of brooding hotness. Jesse Spencer, from House fame, plays the rival to Taylor Kinney’s character. Monica Raymund (Lie To Me) also stars. It was your typical procedural. Nothing spectacular but I’ll continue watching.

The Vampire Diaries – Sucks to be Matt since everyone is just gonna keep telling him they wished he died all season. I use to love Selena (Stephen and Elena) but after a season of them not being together, I’m way over them and hoping for some more Delena (Damon and Elena) this season. I don’t know what happened at the ending of this. It was so weird. I know all will be revealed soon though. Solid return episode and yesssssssssssssss Klaus is back and hopefully to stay.

What To Watch: October 16

9/8c – ABC/NBC/CBS/FOX – Presidential Debate – The 2nd of 3 presidential debates will take the form of a town meeting, where citizens will ask questions of the candidates on foreign and domestic issues. Candidates each will have two minutes to respond, and an extra minute for the moderator to facilitate a discussion. The town meeting participants will be undecided voters selected by the Gallup Organization. This debate will be moderated by CNN’s Chief Political Correspondent, Candy Crowley.

9/8c – CW – Emily Owens, M.D – Series Premiere. Recent medical school graduate Emily Owens (Mamie Gummer) is now a first-year surgical intern at Denver Memorial Hospital and she is ready to leave high school persona of geeky-girl-with-flop-sweats behind her. But Emily quickly realizes that a hospital is a lot like high school — cliques and all — when she is faced with her medical school crush Will Collins (Justin Hartley) and high school nemesis Cassandra Kopelson (Aja Naomi King).

9/8c – Style – Tia & Tamera – Season 2 Fall Premiere. Tamera reveals to Tia and her friends that she is having a baby boy. Now, Tamera must travel to New Orleans to film a new movie and is surprised by how difficult it is, especially with pregnancy brain causing her to forget her lines. While Tamera negotiates New Orleans, Tia receives some unsettling information about her future on her television series.

10/9c – USA – Covert Affairs – Season 3 Fall Premiere. Auggie, Joan and Arthur work with an old friend to bring Annie home from a Russian prison.

When the team is hired to style a zoo fundraising campaign, everyone springs into action but creative differences soon cause problems for the shoot. Meanwhile, Austin becomes jealous of the time MaCray and Katrell spend together outside of the salon.

10/9c – MTV – Underemployed – Series Premiere. follows a group a five friends – Sophia, Daphne, Lou, Raviva and Miles – who all believe they’re destined for greatness as they graduate from college and enter the real world. But what happens when complete world domination doesn’t go according to plan? picks up one year after pomp and circumstance, when reality has set in and the group struggles, often comically, to stay optimistic through dead-end jobs, terrible bosses, romantic mistakes and major life changes.

11/10c – ION – Flashpoint – Season 5 Premiere. an elite police unit that specializes in high-risk critical incidents and faces their toughest challenges yet. While trained in physical and emotional tactics to deal with extreme situations, they find themselves contemplating the very reasons they chose their paths as police officers. For Team One, the deeply personal journeys of the group pulsate through each episode.
