What To Watch: October 10

9/8c – Arrow – CW – Series Premiere. After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell; Hung, Private Practice) was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. Back in Starling City, Oliver slowly reconnects with those closest to him, his devoted mother Moira (Susanna Thompson; Cold Case, Kings), beloved sister Thea (Willa Holland; Gossip Girl, The O.C.), and best friend Tommy Merlyn (Colin Donnell; Pan Am), but struggles with his ex-girlfriend Dinah “Laurel” Lance (Katie Cassidy; Gossip Girl, Melrose Place), who blames him for her sister’s death. Oliver has brought back many new skills from his time on the island and despite the watchful eye of his new bodyguard John Diggle (David Ramsey; Dexter, Blue Bloods), Oliver manages to secretly create the persona of Arrow – a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family and fight the ills of society. As Arrow, Oliver will atone for the past sins of his family while he searches for the personal redemption he needs.

10/9c – Chicago Fire – NBC – Series Premiere. When a fire claims one of their own, there’s plenty of guilt and blame to go around. Lt. Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer; House), in charge of the Truck, tries to carry on, but butts heads with the brash Lt. Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney; The Vampire Diaires) of the Rescue Squad – and each blames the other for their fallen team member. Adding to the turmoil, Casey, unbeknownst to his colleagues, is in the midst of a separation from Hallie (Teri Reeves, Three Rivers).

10/9c – Nashville – ABC – Series Premiere. Chart-topping Rayna James (Connie Britton; Friday Night Lights, American Horror Story) is a country legend who’s had a career any singer would envy, though lately her popularity is starting to wane. Fans still line up to get her autograph, but she’s not packing the arenas like she used to. Rayna’s record label thinks a concert tour, opening for up-and-comer Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere; Heroes, Guiding Light), the young and sexy future of country music, is just what Rayna needs. But scheming Juliette can’t wait to steal Rayna’s spotlight. Sharing a stage with that disrespectful, untalented, little vixen is the last thing Rayna wants to do, which sets up a power struggle for popularity.

NBC postpones season 4 premiere of ‘Community’

Oh NBC. They just don’t know what to do with themselves. Their whole schedule is just a disaster.

What To Watch: October 8

The CW premieres officially start this week and I for one couldn’t be more excited (The Vampire Diaries on Thursday ahhhhhhhhh). Here is what premieres tonight.

8/7c – CW – 90210 – Season 5 Premiere. Naomi and Max make some big plans that go horribly awry when they both get arrested and land in jail. Liam is forced to put The Offshore up for sale to pay off Vanessa and buy out her $200,000 interest in Liam’s movie contract. Navid approaches Liam about becoming his business partner. Teddy is overwhelmed by Silver’s request to father her baby. Adrianna, unaware Dixon has gotten into a life-threatening accident, has an unforgettable evening in Las Vegas with a handsome stranger, Taylor, after she vows to get over Dixon and move on with her life. Annie asks Ade to return to Los Angeles to be with an unconscious Dixon, and the two girls decide to move into the beach house together. This show is so deliciously ridiculous and I just love every minute of it. I seem to have a love for the “evil” people on most of the shows I watch so of course AnnaLynne McCord’s Naomi is my favorite.

9/8c – CW – Gossip Girl – 6th and Final Season Premiere. After a brief encounter abroad, Chuck and Blair make a promise to each other about their relationship, which leaves them once again apart. Dan, with some help from an unlikely ally, Georgina, is writing a scathing tell-all book that can only mean trouble. As the sole head of The Spectator, Nate is making his own decisions and is ready to go up against Gossip Girl. As word spreads that Serena is missing, the gang bands together to find her and are shocked by what they find. This show has been downhill for a long time and should have ended about 2 seasons ago. Glad it’s ending now though. I mean it’s come to the point where I have this show on mute and only look to see what they are wearing. This show and Revenge have the best costume designers. I mean the clothes are just so amazing.

9/8c – TV One – Life After – Season 4 Premiere. Exploring the turning point in celebrities’ careers that altered their lives forever, the half-hour series highlights these moments from the point of view of the celebrity and those in their inner circle. In each episode, a celebrity reveals the stories behind the transformative events in their life, and the ways in which they evolved from these experiences.

What To Watch: October 7

7/6c – ABC – America’s Funniest Home Videos – Season 23 Premiere. The video highlights in this season’s premiere episode include a little brother who causes a fiasco amongst his siblings when he flushes the toilet too soon during their goldfish burial; animals making bizarre and unexpected sounds; a music montage featuring people terrified on amusement park rides; the Ow-lympics; and “Delivery room fainters” vs. “Straws getting stuck in weird places.” The show is hosted by Tom Bergeron (Dancing With The Stars). This show is completely irrelevant now with Youtube and shows like Tosh.O. But the show cheaply produced, the ratings aren’t bad and ABC makes money of it so hence a season 23.

7:30/6:30c – FOX – The Cleveland Show – Season 4 Premiere. Cleveland and the gang visit their rival high school in Goochland for the annual football game, but when Federline destroys the car belonging to Cleveland’s arch-nemesis Chet Butler, they must find a way to escape their enemy’s home turf. Meanwhile, Donna dons a sexy Halloween costume that gets her in trouble with the cops, and Roberta and Cleveland Jr. play pranks around Stoolbend when they dress up as Donna and Cleveland.

9/8c – Lifetime – Steel Magnolias – a television adaptation of the iconic play and 1989 film of the same name starring Queen Latifah as ‘M’Lynn,’ alongside Phylicia Rashad as ‘Clairee,’ Adepero Oduye as ‘Annelle,’ Condola Rashad as ‘Shelby,’ with Jill Scott as ‘Truvy’ and Alfre Woodard as ‘Ouiser.’

What To Watch: October 4

8/7c – NBC – 30 Rock – 7th and final season premiere. When “TGS” returns from hiatus, Liz is alarmed by Jack’s shockingly bad fall programming line-up. Meanwhile, Jenna prepares to be the ultimate bridezilla, enlisting a reluctant Liz to be her maid of honor, and Kenneth and Hazel invite Tracy to a dinner party. This show is so hilarious. It has had a good run so I’m not sad that it’s ending this season. This frees up Tina Fey to maybe write another hilarious book or come up with another show.

10/9c – MTV – Jersey Shore – 6th and final season premiere. The gang returns to the shore for the last time; Mike shares about his recovery; Snooki deals with being pregnant in a party house; Deena struggles with her long-distance relationship; Snooki makes an announcement.

Fall TV Week 3 **Spoiler Alert**

Partners – Right off the bat it looks just like Will & Grace, which I liked. Glad Brandon Routh has found some steady employment. I didn’t love the show but I liked it. It was consistent and has some laughs. I like Sophia Bush’s character. I feel like she is still playing Brooke from One Tree Hill though. Michael Urie is adorable. It looks like he is playing a less bitchy version of his character on Ugly Betty. We’ll see how the next episode goes.

The Mindy Project – Liked it.  Its funny and quirky (not Zooey Deschanel annoying quirky. I love New Girl but sometimes its just too much). The show wasn’t a slam dunk but it has great potential. Mindy Kaling is a great writer so I only see the show getting better. I thought the supporting characters were pretty good as well. This gets a season pass because I really like Kaling.

10/9c – Bravo – Life After Top Chef – Series Premiere. The show follows Richard Blais in Atlanta, Jen Carroll in Philadelphia, Spike Mendelsohn in D.C., and Fabio Viviani in Los Angeles as they reach milestones in both their personal lives and culinary careers, from opening their own restaurants to expanding franchises and establishing themselves as culinary leaders in the food world.
