What To Watch: October 16


9/8c – ABC/NBC/CBS/FOX – Presidential Debate – The 2nd of 3 presidential debates will take the form of a town meeting, where citizens will ask questions of the candidates on foreign and domestic issues. Candidates each will have two minutes to respond, and an extra minute for the moderator to facilitate a discussion. The town meeting participants will be undecided voters selected by the Gallup Organization. This debate will be moderated by CNN’s Chief Political Correspondent, Candy Crowley.

9/8c – CW – Emily Owens, M.D – Series Premiere. Recent medical school graduate Emily Owens (Mamie Gummer) is now a first-year surgical intern at Denver Memorial Hospital and she is ready to leave high school persona of geeky-girl-with-flop-sweats behind her. But Emily quickly realizes that a hospital is a lot like high school — cliques and all — when she is faced with her medical school crush Will Collins (Justin Hartley) and high school nemesis Cassandra Kopelson (Aja Naomi King).

9/8c – Style – Tia & Tamera – Season 2 Fall Premiere. Tamera reveals to Tia and her friends that she is having a baby boy. Now, Tamera must travel to New Orleans to film a new movie and is surprised by how difficult it is, especially with pregnancy brain causing her to forget her lines. While Tamera negotiates New Orleans, Tia receives some unsettling information about her future on her television series.

10/9c – USA – Covert Affairs – Season 3 Fall Premiere. Auggie, Joan and Arthur work with an old friend to bring Annie home from a Russian prison.

10/9c – Style – Chicagolicious – Season 1 Fall Premiere. Q struggles with her decision to leave AJ’s of Chicago – knowing bad news about the future of his product line could affect any plans to get back her job. When the team is hired to style a zoo fundraising campaign, everyone springs into action but creative differences soon cause problems for the shoot. Meanwhile, Austin becomes jealous of the time MaCray and Katrell spend together outside of the salon.

10/9c – MTV – Underemployed – Series Premiere. follows a group a five friends – Sophia, Daphne, Lou, Raviva and Miles – who all believe they’re destined for greatness as they graduate from college and enter the real world. But what happens when complete world domination doesn’t go according to plan? picks up one year after pomp and circumstance, when reality has set in and the group struggles, often comically, to stay optimistic through dead-end jobs, terrible bosses, romantic mistakes and major life changes.

11/10c – ION – Flashpoint – Season 5 Premiere. an elite police unit that specializes in high-risk critical incidents and faces their toughest challenges yet. While trained in physical and emotional tactics to deal with extreme situations, they find themselves contemplating the very reasons they chose their paths as police officers. For Team One, the deeply personal journeys of the group pulsate through each episode.

What To Watch: October 11 (Vampire Diaries, VP Debates, Totally Biased)


8/7c – CW – The Vampire Diaires – Season 4 Premiere. Tonight’s premiere kicks off immediately where Season 3 ended. Elena awakens on the morning after the accident to find the thing she dreaded most has come true – she died with vampire blood in her system and now must go through the terrible transition to become a vampire or face certain death. Stefan promises Elena that he and Bonnie will exhaust every possible way out of the situation, but Damon is furious with his brother for letting Elena die in the first place. Bonnie pays a terrible price for her attempt to change Elena’s fate, while Damon takes out his frustration and rage on Matt. In a rare moment of empathy, Rebekah is deeply touched by Stefan and Elena’s devotion to one another. Finally, Pastor Young and the Town Council members begin rounding up the vampires and their supporters, leading to an unexpected tragedy. I am soooooo ready for this return. This is one of my favorite shows and it has been gone for entirely too long.

9/8c – ABC/NBC/CBS/FOX – Vice Presidential Debate. Joe Biden and Paul Ryan go at each other tonight in the 2nd of 3 debates.

9/8c – CW – Beauty and The Beast – Series Premiere. Police officer Cat Chandler investigates a case that leads her to Vincent, a man guarding a secret; as Cat is drawn closer to Vincent, she must keep their relationship secret.

10/9c – FX – It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia – Season 8 Premiere. Dennis and Dee’s ailing grandfather Pop-Pop is wasting away in the hospital, and they have to decide whether to pull the plug. But things get complicated when The Gang learns of Pop-Pop’s history as a Nazi, and Mac, Charlie and Frank set off in search of the old man’s spoils from the war.

10/9c – TLC – Little Shop Of Gypsies – Series Premiere.  First seen on MY BIG FAT GYPSY WEDDING, British dressmaker Thelma Madine has taken gypsy and traveler women from maidenhood to matrimony with her over-the-top dresses and extravagant designs. As an ardent supporter of women’s rights, Thelma now wants to help unconventional gypsies – young women who would rather get hired than get hitched. Thelma begins to search for her 10 new trainees; once the girls are chosen, chaos ensues and Thelma must act fast before it all falls apart.

10:30/9:30c – FX – The League. Season 4 Premiere. The League prepares for the draft and the arrival of Kevin and Jenny’s baby boy. Taco’s business dealings with Jerry Jones get the guys invited to the Dallas Cowboys’ Training Camp.

11:30/10:30c – FX – Totally Biased With W. Kamau Bell. Season 1 Fall Premiere. comedian W. Kamau Bell as he hilariously dissects politics, pop culture, race, religion, sex and the media from his own unique point of view.

What To Watch: October 10


9/8c – Arrow – CW – Series Premiere. After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell; Hung, Private Practice) was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. Back in Starling City, Oliver slowly reconnects with those closest to him, his devoted mother Moira (Susanna Thompson; Cold Case, Kings), beloved sister Thea (Willa Holland; Gossip Girl, The O.C.), and best friend Tommy Merlyn (Colin Donnell; Pan Am), but struggles with his ex-girlfriend Dinah “Laurel” Lance (Katie Cassidy; Gossip Girl, Melrose Place), who blames him for her sister’s death. Oliver has brought back many new skills from his time on the island and despite the watchful eye of his new bodyguard John Diggle (David Ramsey; Dexter, Blue Bloods), Oliver manages to secretly create the persona of Arrow – a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family and fight the ills of society. As Arrow, Oliver will atone for the past sins of his family while he searches for the personal redemption he needs.

10/9c – Chicago Fire – NBC – Series Premiere. When a fire claims one of their own, there’s plenty of guilt and blame to go around. Lt. Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer; House), in charge of the Truck, tries to carry on, but butts heads with the brash Lt. Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney; The Vampire Diaires) of the Rescue Squad – and each blames the other for their fallen team member. Adding to the turmoil, Casey, unbeknownst to his colleagues, is in the midst of a separation from Hallie (Teri Reeves, Three Rivers).

10/9c – Nashville – ABC – Series Premiere. Chart-topping Rayna James (Connie Britton; Friday Night Lights, American Horror Story) is a country legend who’s had a career any singer would envy, though lately her popularity is starting to wane. Fans still line up to get her autograph, but she’s not packing the arenas like she used to. Rayna’s record label thinks a concert tour, opening for up-and-comer Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere; Heroes, Guiding Light), the young and sexy future of country music, is just what Rayna needs. But scheming Juliette can’t wait to steal Rayna’s spotlight. Sharing a stage with that disrespectful, untalented, little vixen is the last thing Rayna wants to do, which sets up a power struggle for popularity.

NBC postpones season 4 premiere of ‘Community’


Oh NBC. They just don’t know what to do with themselves. Their whole schedule is just a disaster.

What To Watch: October 4


8/7c – NBC – 30 Rock – 7th and final season premiere. When “TGS” returns from hiatus, Liz is alarmed by Jack’s shockingly bad fall programming line-up. Meanwhile, Jenna prepares to be the ultimate bridezilla, enlisting a reluctant Liz to be her maid of honor, and Kenneth and Hazel invite Tracy to a dinner party. This show is so hilarious. It has had a good run so I’m not sad that it’s ending this season. This frees up Tina Fey to maybe write another hilarious book or come up with another show.

10/9c – MTV – Jersey Shore – 6th and final season premiere. The gang returns to the shore for the last time; Mike shares about his recovery; Snooki deals with being pregnant in a party house; Deena struggles with her long-distance relationship; Snooki makes an announcement.

 

What To Watch: September 26


What’s a great gift for my birthday today? More and more premieres. Woooo. My dvr is cursing at me right now from all the things its taping.

8/7c – ABC – The Middle – Season 4 Premiere. Frankie’s plans to recreate the magic of her own childhood summers get spoiled when Mike lets it slip that Axl is his favorite Heck child, and Frankie tries to coax the kids into telling them who their favorite parent is. Meanwhile, when Frankie and Mike discover that Axl failed English during the past school year, they force him to make it up in summer school, otherwise he could jeopardize any chance of getting a college sports scholarship after graduation; Brick takes up growing a tomato for his summer project; and Sue tries to bond with a reluctant Mike and to get him involved in different activities with her — which she plans to document in a giant scrapbook.

9/8c – CBS – Criminal Minds – Season 8 Premiere. When a Texas prisoner escapes during a transfer, he leaves behind victims with his unique trademark, sewing their mouths shut, a signature the BAU remembers as unique to the UnSub “The Silencer.” While they investigate who he was and who he’s become, the BAU also gets to know the newest member of the team.

9/8c – NBC – Law & Order: SVU – Season 14 Premiere. The squad is reeling from the fallout after Cragen gets arrested for the murder of an escort. Tensions run high at the precinct as the detectives contend with the DA’s investigation of Cragen, as well as the arrival of a tough new captain. Brian Cassidy reads an increasingly narrow line as an undercover cop in Bart Ganzel’s escort organization, as Detective Amaro struggles with the case and his marriage.

9/8c – ABC – Modern Family – Season 4 Premiere. Jay’s birthday is upon us again and, as before, he makes it well-known that he wishes to keep it as low-key as possible, with no grand gestures or surprises. But leave it to the family to miss the mark yet again! Phil takes Jay on a very unconventional fishing trip with his buddies, and Gloria struggles with how to break the pregnancy news to him. Meanwhile, Dylan moves into the Dunphy household temporarily, and Mitch and Cam decide to look into adopting a cat as they continue to cope with their failed attempt to adopt another child.

9:30/8:30c – ABC – The Neighbors – Series Premiere. Marty, in hopes of providing a better life for his wife and three kids, recently bought a home in Hidden Hills, a gated New Jersey townhome community with its own golf course. It’s clear from day one that the residents of Hidden Hills are a little different. The Weavers soon learn that the entire community is comprised of aliens from Zabvron, where the men bear children and everyone cries green goo from their ears. They are awaiting instructions from home, and the Weavers are the first humans they’ve had the opportunity to know. The two worlds collide as everyone discovers they can “totally relate” and learn a lot from each other.

10/9c – CBS – CSI – Season 13 Premiere. Russell’s granddaughter was kidnapped in last season’s finale cliffhanger and now he leads the CSI team on a hunt to find her.

10/9c – ABC – Revenge: The First Chapter – Catch up on the show before Season 2 starts up on Sunday September 30. This would be good to watch if you have forgotten what happened or are new to the show.

10/9c – Comedy Central – South Park – Season 16 Premiere. As a concerned parent, Randy radically changes the way football gets played at South Park Elementary. The new version of the game quickly becomes the nation’s most popular sport. One gifted student emerges as a star athlete in Sarcastaball.

10:30/9:30c – Comedy Central – Key & Peele – Season 2 Premiere. The guys continues to tackle issues like race relations in a less than “post-racial” society and focus on culturally relevant characters such as Steve Jobs and the King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson in this hilarious sketch comedy show.

What To Watch: September 20


Lots of premieres tonight. NBC comedy is back and another Braxton gets their own show. My DVR is getting full and it’s not even the official premiere week yet.

8:30/7:30c – NBC – Up All Night – Season 2 Premiere. Christina Applegate, Maya Rudolph and Will Arnett all return for the second season of this hilarious show. In tonight’s premiere Reagan and Ava’s friendship gets tested after the news of the show’s cancellation. Meanwhile, Reagan hires her brother Scott (Luka Jones; Best Friends Forever) to help remodel their bathroom, and Chris decides to re-enter the working world.

9/8c – NBC – The Office – Season 9 Premiere. The show is back for its ninth and last season (finally).  The show is said to be back in fighting form after the travesty that has been the last two seasons. In the premiere, Jim and Dwight are thrown off-balance by the arrival of two young employees that the others dub “the new Jim” and “Dwight, Jr.” Andy comes back from Outward Bound leadership training with a desire for vengeance on Nellie. Will Oscar adopt Angela’s cat? Kevin saves a turtle.

9:30/8:30c – NBC – Parks & Recreation – Season 5 Premiere. Leslie and Andy visit Ben and April at their new jobs in Washington D.C., and Leslie feels overwhelmed by the city — especially after meeting two of her idols (Senators Barbara Boxer and Olympia Snowe). Meanwhile, Ron throws a “thank you” barbecue for the entire Parks and Recreation staff.

10/9c – WE – Tamar & Vince – Series Premiere. In the hit series Braxton Family Values, viewers were introduced to the bold and sassy youngest sister of the Braxton clan, Tamar, and her music mogul husband Vince Herbert. A true fan favorite, Tamar is back to claim the spotlight and reign “diva supreme.” The show will focus on Tamar’s obsession with achieving instant worldwide pop stardom and Vince’s attempts to help her get there, and keep his sanity in the process. As Tamar’s “husband-ager,” Vince (owner of Streamline Records and brains behind major pop star Lady Gaga) often walks a fine line between being a supportive husband and an authoritative manager. Crazy in love through their highs and lows, the couple is out to prove you can mix business with pleasure.

What To Watch: September 15


More premieres coming for tonight. It’s the weekend so there isn’t much coming out.

 

9/8c – OWN – Welcome To Sweetie Pie’s – Season 2 Premiere. The show follows the loud, loving and still very musical Montgomery family as they struggle with expanding their family owned business and creating a legacy to pass on to future generations, one soulful dish at a time.

11:29/10:29c – NBC – Saturday Night Live – Season 38 premiere. SNL kicks off the new season with host Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy, Ted) and musical guest Frank Ocean (Channel Orange, Nostalgia Ultra). The show lost a lot of the funnier people they had on the show but there are still many left like Bill Hader, Jason Sudeikis, Jay Pharoah, Vanessa Baher and Bobby Moynihan. We’ll see if it gets any funnier than the last couple of seasons. I doubt it but I’ll keep watching.
