Fall TV: Top New and Returning Shows

If you have followed this blog for any amount of time, you know I love television. You also know I LOVE FALL TELEVISION. The air begins to cool down, Starbucks brings back their pumpkin spiced flavor and all of my favorites and potential favorites come back from their summer hiatus. It’s the most magical time ever.

So here I’m going to wax poetic on what returning shows I am looking forward to as well as what new ones I hope are as good as their trailers seem.

Returning Shows

Castle

Season 5 is going to be amazing. Season 4 ended with the writers giving the fans what they have wanted for 4 long seasons and they definitely did not disappoint. Season 5 will start with the morning after of Castle and Beckett getting together as well as what happens with Esposito and Beckett after they quit the force. Hopefully we will get some mending of Ryan and Esposito’s friendship. Can’t wait for this one. The new season starts Monday, September 24 @10/9c on ABC.

Network Upfronts 2012

I know I’m over 3 weeks late here but…. better late than never right? So upfronts happened and brought about the final nail to the coffins of many shows as well as plenty of renewals for the networks. We also get a preview of what the fall 2012 has in store for us.

Lets’s start with ABC. Their cancelled shows for the 11-12 season were Charlie’s Angels, Desperate Housewives, GCB, Man Up!, Missing, Pan Am, The River and Work It. Renewed shows are Castle, Modern Family, Body of Proof, Cougar Town, Dancing With the Stars, Grey’s Anatomy, Happy Endings, Last Man Standing, Once Upon A Time, Private Practice, Revenge, Suburgatory, The Bachelor, and The Middle.

I’m not really sad about any of the shows that were cancelled here. The only one that I feel they should have given more time to was GCB. Maybe let it run a little more in the summer to catch more of an audience. Their ratings weren’t terrible either so I didn’t really understand that one. As for everything that got renewed YES, YES, YES especially Cougar Town. TBS came in with a last minute save on the show because ABC was definitely going to ax it. So come this fall Cougar Town will no longer air on ABC but on TBS. Continue reading Network Upfronts 2012

Season Finales Wednesday 05/16/12

Suburgatory – ABC 8:30/7:30c – Season 1 finale. Tessa feels left out when the town celebrates the mothers in the community. Dalia takes off for a trip to Israel leaving Dallas all alone. Meanwhile, an endangered-animal theme at the Lerners’ baby shower draws a not so good reaction from Eden; and Fred surprises Sheila with one of her favorite performers. I love this show and I’m glad its coming back for a second season. It’s so funny. Jeremy Sisto is so great. He always takes me back to his Clueless days as Elton.

Criminal Minds – CBS 9/8c -Season 7 finale. A federal bank is under attack and the BAU is called to negotiate a hostage situation. As events unfold in real-time, tensions rise as one of the team becomes a hostage. Also, Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster) says goodbye. This is like the 3rd time she’s saying goodbye. This will be the last time though as the studio didn’t want her to leave and pursue other shows so she opted to leave. I like her and will miss her character on the show.

Interior Therapy With Jeff Lewis – BRAVO 9/8c – Season 1 finale. Jeff and Jenni find that comedian Mark Decarlo has bad taste. Jeff finally meets his match tonight. It’s gonna be two Jeff’s going at each other. This show is actually pretty good. I like his design stuff and the couples and families whose homes they fix up are pretty messed up in some form or fashion. It’s stuff.

Season Finales Sunday 5/13/12

Survivor: One World – CBS 8/7c – 2 hour season finale. The first ever all female final five battle for the Survivor crown. Someone breaks down and there are plenty of tears. A reunion follows the crowning of the winner.

Once Upon A Time – ABC 8/7c – Season 1 finale. Love this show. I need to catch up on a couple of episodes but great show. Emma and Regina have to work together to save Henry, Charming tries to escape to get to Snow White but she has already taken the poison apple from the queen.

Desperate Housewives – ABC 9/8c – 2 hour Series finale.  Eight seasons and countless deaths, divorces, affairs and secrets and the end has come for our ladies in Wisteria Lane. I watched maybe 3 out of 8 seasons of this show. It was good at one point and then just got ridiculous. It was a good run. Many shows are barely trying to survive a season let alone run for 8 years. On tonight’s finale, Trip pleads with Bree to tell him about the night of Alejandro’s murder; Gaby tries to find a way to save Bree; Susan tries to keep the sale of her house private until she can tell her friends; Katherine Mayfair (Dana Delany) returns with a job opportunity for Lynette; the women agree to take care of Mrs. McCluskey when they learn she wants to die at home; and Renee discovers that Ben has been thrown in jail.

American Dad – FOX 9:30/8:30c – Season 7 finale (How has this been on for that long?) Stan takes Steve to Mexico to help him grow up but when they are kidnapped by a drug cartel only Steve can free them.
